Greg and Matt had to work extra hard to take this South Dakota 9-pointer on the evening of Sept. 27th. Distance of the shot was 25 yards.
Greg shot this big split G-2 buck in Iowa on the afternoon of December 21st.
A reunion hunt in northern Wisconsin turned out successful when Greg put the hammer down on this wide, flat-horned buck that was aptly nicknamed “Big Ugly”.
Greg arrowed this 6 1/2 year-old whitetail in Indiana on the morning of November 9th. The warrior buck’s left ear had been almost completely severed during a recent battle with another buck!
Greg used his Mathews Z7 to arrow down this great-looking Oklahoma whitetail on the morning of October 10th.
I shot this great South Dakota 8 pointer on the first day of the 2010 archery season, Sept. 25th. Incredible footage!
Here’s a photo of the buck I shot last evening in ND (9/13/10). Great deer, great footage. Hunting from a ground blind again. Starting to really like that style.
Greg shot this monster in Montana early September this year (2010). He’s a main frame 6×6 typical with five abnormals, including a short drop tine near the end of his right beam. Shot him from a ground blind, and had a buck decoy set up.
We are looking to give away one of our newest products to the online store, Bowhunting Forests and Deep Woods book to one of our Facebook Fans.
We have acquired a very limited supply of Greg’s fifth and last book, “Bowhunting Forests & Deep Woods”. This, his one and only hardcover book, deals with bowhunting for trophy whitetails in big woods environments.
There’s no doubt that my success in Kansas was due in part to some timely calling. But it was also the result of exploiting a very basic and somewhat predictable morning movement pattern. This satellite view provides a perfect illustration of what I’m talking about.
My late season muzzleloader hunt took place in northern Iowa, just 10 miles from the Minnesota border. As this overhead view clearly shows, the terrain in this part of the state is fairly flat and mostly open. The majority of the cover here is found along this narrow river bottom—which just so happens to be where I was hunting.
My Texas bowhunt took place in the very northeast corner of the state, near the small town of McLean. This was my first visit to this part of the Lone Star State, but I can assure you that it won’t be my last. I absolutely fell in love with the area, both because of the diversity of the habitat and, of course, because of the quality of the whitetails found here.
I’ve taken a good buck in each of the past three archery seasons in northwest Kentucky. My success on those hunts can be attributed to a first rate management policy on the property I was hunting and strategic stand site locations.
