One Response to “Moon phase & hunting?”
I am still on the fence over this one. In the early to mid 90′s I probably would have said “Yah, sure, always!”, but over the last few years, I am not sure. Planning my vacations around the harvest moon have had some affect, and have put me in the wood to shoot a big deer, but I think it is just on factor.
Weather, pressure and buck-to-doe ratio seem to be a part of the equation. My home are has a ratio stacked highly favoring the antler-less variety of the species, and moon phase does not appear to tell me the exact day I should show up on stand, and more than 1 cycle is needed to get all the available does bred, if at all! Add temps near the 60′s, and the moon seems to disappear as a reliable signal that you need to be in the field now!
